| PEDAGOGIC
APPROACHES
SIESCOMS believes in the principle of all-round development of a
student. Appreciating the fact that something additional is needed
to groom a student into a full-fledged manager to take upon the
responsibility of manning an organization in the turbulent times,
several innovative pedagogic approaches have been initiated. These
supplement the traditional classroom discussion and aim at augmenting
specific skill-set of the students. Some of these include:
Case studies: Emphasis on analysis of case studies brings real-life
situations to classrooms and stimulates the thought process for
taking a decision.
Simulation games: To encourage creative thinking and analytical
ability among the students by simulating business situations.
Group learning activities: These include PG Lab, HR related activities
in small groups with a view to integrate individual thinking with
that of the team, to build team spirits, camaraderie, and enhance
leadership qualities.
Learning with movies: To learn management concepts through theme-based
movies integrated with overall management education.
Industry
(Concurrent) projects: Corporate projects undertaken individually
or in-groups along with regular studies to aid assimilation and
comprehension of the industry-specific problems.
Industry lecture series: To deepen the understanding of the concepts,
speakers from the corporate and academic fraternity are invited
every Saturday in the afternoon hours to share their insights.
Management lecture series: These are aimed at broadening the perspective
of the students beyond the traditional management paradigms by arranging
talks from the leaders from various spectrum of society.
Summer internship: Map theoretical concepts to practical situations
in a corporate environment to gain hands-on experience.
